Still Life











still life is bassically a sculpture/painting ... well artwork that is of an inanimate object or objects

examples such as:





Pablo Picasso



-It appears to depict a table top or small sideboard, with a knife, a beer glass, two slices of sausage and a slice of cheese or pâté.




-The materials used are painted wood and upholstery fringe





-The theme could possibly be destruction as it was created in the period of the war





-What was happening in the artist's life at the time was: met Braque in 1907 and with his collaboration created Cubism. Designed sets and costumes for Parade and other Diaghilev ballets 1917-24.





-It was done in 1914

-1 & 2.it appears to be a still life of a set of lab instruments.

-1 & 2.teh materials used are: aquatint and spitbite on paper

-1 & 2.teh theme could most likely be science since it is a collection of lab instruments. also, perhaps, the bleak cleanliness of it as it is whit on black which couldenhance purity.

-1 & 2.what was happening in the artist's life at the time: In August 1988, the sculptor Tony Cragg produced his first etchings, spending a little over two weeks at Crown Point Press in San Francisco.

Edward Wadsworth
- The shells in this work, set against the endless expanse of sea, can be seen as symbols of mortality. Wadsworth was fascinated by the sea, and painted maritime subjects throughout his life.
